LATEST NEWS

The April 2010 issue of BBC Homes & Antiques contains a lovely article all about Dolls' Houses and Miniatura.
We have always worked hard to get this great hobby the recognition it deserves outside the miniature world. So when important mainstream publications put a bit of a spotlight onto us, especially with such a considered and well written account, it is always cause for a small celebration.
Which is why we are proud to include it on our website.
As you might expect Jane Laverick's new website features lots of lovely interactive photo's of her dolls. Those people who have been entertained by Jane's columns in various magazines over the years will not be surprised to also discover an extensive, informative and equally humourous blog on her site as well. If you haven't read anything by Jane before it's well worth trying out her particular style which is winning fans from around the globe even as you read this. www.janelaverick.com
Warley Model Train Show
November saw Miniatura representing the dolls house hobby at the Warley International Model Rail show at the NEC. This is the third year we have been there and each time it has been very positive experience. The “G” scale rail enthusiasts were very quick to identify that their scale is in keeping with 1/24th scale dolls houses and accessories could be utilised in both hobbies.
Watch out for the Warley stand again at the next Miniatura show when you can see examples of how railway modelling merges almost seamlessly with miniatures. Long may the two hobbies complement each other as so many people enjoy aspects of both.
Sutton Coldfield Modellers Society Show
Another regular show we attend is the Sutton Coldfield Modellers Show where again there has proved to be a considerable ‘cross-over’between the two hobbies. The modelling skills displayed there are incredible and their members also show work annually at Miniatura.
Spotlight on Miniatures at Melbicks Garden Centre
Following this ‘lateral thinking’ our next small venture is to be at the Melbick’s Garden Centre, Birmingham on Saturday 6th February when we will be mounting a display of miniatures featuring a select handful of our regular exhibitors. Anyone in the vicinity is welcome to pop in to say ‘Hallo’ to Bags of Character, Teeny Weeny Teddies, Herdwick Landscapes, Diane Harfield of Plant Flowers & Trees, Country Treasures, D.A.W's Rockers, and also Andy, Bob & Muriel Hopwood. The display will open at 11.00am until about 4.00pm and can be found via the café. The main aim of this event is to introduce miniatures to a wider audience so there will be no entrance fee although we do hope to encourage people to make a donation to charity.
