Happy New Year to all our miniaturist friends. This year is the Chinese year of the Dragon, the Queen's Jubilee and the Olympics. Plenty of ideas to inspire our modelling hobby already! We are already planning exciting changes to the Miniatura website. Watch this space!

This coming weekend sees the Miniatura organisers representing the dolls' house hobby and the Miniatura Show at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the N.E.C. Many of you know that Warley are regular exhibitors at Miniatura, so as usual we will be returning the compliment and illustrating the many links between the two hobbies.
If past years are anything to go by, we may well discover a number of new enthusiasts. The exhibition is on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November with doors opening at 9.30 each day. There are over 85 layouts in show including huge numbers of model landscapes, houses and other buildings of various scales including 1/25th which offers interchangeable opportunities with 1/24th scales. Congratulations to Doreen Jeffries celebrating 30 years of Pudsey Dolls' House Fairs.
Don't miss the next show this coming Saturday 12th November at Pudsey Civic Hall (LS28 5TA for Sat Nav users). Doors open between 10.30am and 4.00pm.
As ever at Pudsey there will be a special stand devoted to raising funds for the BBC Children In Need appeal as well as the usual selection of dolls' house stands.

Pat Cutforth will be holding a special dolls' house sale this Saturday to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Admission is free and there will be bargains galore. The sale is on Saturday 5th November and will run from 10.00am to 2.30pm at Shaw Farm in Wiltshire (SN8 4LU). For more information contact Pat at pat.cutforth@tiscali.co.uk.

Congratulations to Michal Morse, currently celebrating the 40th anniversary of opening her shop, The Dolls House. Originally in London at Covent Garden, she moved it to Northleach, in the Cotswolds in 1995. Michal is one of the pioneers of the hobby as we know it today, and without her amazing contribution none of us might be enjoying this pleasurable pastime.
The celebrations included a delightful party last Friday, attended by past and present helpers at the shop, local enthusiasts, craftsmen from Surrey, Wales and Birmingham, and show organisers. The cake was delicious and a lot of “catch-up” conversation ensued.
Well done Michal, and thank you for opening the first shop in 1971.
