The dolls have porcelain heads and wired pewter bodies. This enables them to pose and also to stand on their own when the point of balance is found. They can be of any character and any period, either from the royal and upper classes or tradesmen and beggars. 
Detail, knowledge of historical costume and manners, is a feature of the dolls. Jill Bennett will happily discuss and create a special character for a customer, as the dolls may be ordered as well as seen at fairs
